Yes — that’s one of its biggest advantages over carbon steel. 304 stainless diamond plate handles outdoor exposure with occasional rain without rusting. 316L is recommended for coastal or marine outdoor applications where salt spray is a factor. Stainless steel diamond plate is approximately 5% heavier than a flat stainless plate of the same base thickness, due to the raised pattern material. No.1 (mill finish) is the standard as-rolled surface for industrial use. 2B (smooth matte) is recommended for food processing — it’s non-porous, easy to sanitize, and meets FDA/USDA requirements. BA (bright annealed) offers higher reflectivity for pharmaceutical use. No.4 (brushed) and 8K (mirror) are for architectural applications where appearance matters as much as function.
