Four raised pattern options. Each offers different slip resistance, aesthetics, and regional preferences.
The classic elongated diamond. Excellent multi-directional slip resistance. Standard for industrial and architectural flooring globally. Most commonly specified under ASTM A793.
Round or oval raised bumps — smoother appearance with moderate slip resistance. Commonly used in Asian markets for both industrial and decorative stainless steel applications.
Five parallel raised bars per repeat. Popular in Europe for stair treads and flooring. Provides directional slip resistance with a distinctive industrial aesthetic.
Small circular raised bumps — moderate slip resistance with a clean, decorative finish. Ideal for architectural accents, wall protection, and light-duty decorative flooring.

Stainless steel diamond plate — also called stainless steel checker plate, tread plate, or floor plate — is a corrosion-resistant steel sheet with a raised anti-slip pattern on one side and a flat surface on the other. Conforming to ASTM A793, it’s manufactured by hot-rolling stainless steel slab (grades 304, 316L, 430, or 2205) through patterned embossing rolls. The result is a durable, rust-proof anti-slip surface that performs in wet, salty, acidic, and chemical environments where carbon steel would quickly corrode. Available in thicknesses 1.5–12mm, widths up to 2500mm, and four pattern types — diamond, lentil, 5-bar, and round bean — Huaxiao Metal keeps an extensive inventory of stainless steel diamond plate ready for immediate shipment.
Choosing the right grade depends on your environment. Below is a practical comparison of the four most common stainless steel diamond plate grades.
| Grade | Type | Corrosion Resistance | Cost Level | Magnetic | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 304 / 304L | Austenitic | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | $$ | No | General indoor/outdoor, food processing, architectural |
| 316 / 316L | Austenitic | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | $$$ | No | Marine, chemical plants, coastal, pharmaceutical |
| 430 | Ferritic | ⭐⭐⭐ | $ | Yes | Indoor decorative, dry environments, budget projects |
| 2205 Duplex | Duplex | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | $$$$ | Yes | Offshore, high chloride, extreme chemical exposure |
Three questions will point you to the right grade, pattern, and finish.
Dry indoor → 430 (budget).
General outdoor / food → 304.
Marine / chemical / coastal → 316L.
Offshore / extreme chloride → 2205.
Heavy-duty slip resistance → Diamond or 5-Bar pattern.
Moderate, smoother look → Lentil.
Decorative, light traffic → Round Bean.
Industrial / hidden → No.1 mill finish.
Food-grade easy-clean → 2B smooth.
Architectural visible → No.4 brushed or BA bright.
Standard sheet: 4’×8′.

Unlike carbon steel, stainless steel diamond plate won’t rust — even when exposed to water, salt, acids, alkalis, or cleaning chemicals. 316L grade handles the harshest marine and chemical environments.
Raised patterns provide excellent traction in wet, oily, and greasy conditions. Meets OSHA and international safety standards for industrial flooring.
Non-porous surface resists bacteria, mold, and food residue. Ideal for food processing plants, commercial kitchens, and pharmaceutical cleanrooms. Simply wash or steam clean.
304/316L grades deliver excellent structural strength without the thickness penalty. 2205 duplex offers nearly double the yield strength of standard 304 — thinner plates for the same load.
No.4 brushed or 8K mirror finishes turn an anti-slip floor plate into an architectural feature. Used in high-end hotels, airports, and luxury retail spaces.
Stainless steel diamond plate lasts decades with zero maintenance. And it’s fully recyclable at end of life — a genuinely sustainable construction material.
Each material has a place. Here’s how they compare — and when to choose which.

Quick answers to the questions our buyers ask most often.
Stainless steel diamond plate pricing depends on grade (304 cheapest, 316L ~30% more, 2205 ~100% more), thickness, sheet size, surface finish, and order quantity. For a real-time quote on your exact specification, click “Get Quote” or WhatsApp us. We respond within 12 hours with a detailed quotation including freight to your port.
For stock sizes (4’×8′, 4’×10′ in common thicknesses), there is no minimum — you can order single sheets. For custom dimensions, non-standard thicknesses, or special finishes, the typical MOQ is 500–1000 kg depending on the grade and specification. Contact us with your requirements and we’ll find a solution.
Yes — that’s one of its biggest advantages over carbon steel. 304 stainless diamond plate handles outdoor exposure with occasional rain without rusting. 316L is recommended for coastal or marine outdoor applications where salt spray is a factor. Unlike carbon steel, no painting or galvanizing is needed for outdoor use.
Stainless steel diamond plate is approximately 5% heavier than a flat stainless plate of the same base thickness, due to the raised pattern material. For example, a 4mm base thickness diamond plate weighs roughly the same as a 4.2mm flat plate. Our weight calculator above includes this 5% pattern allowance automatically.
No.1 (mill finish) is the standard as-rolled surface for industrial use. 2B (smooth matte) is recommended for food processing — it’s non-porous, easy to sanitize, and meets FDA/USDA requirements. BA (bright annealed) offers higher reflectivity for pharmaceutical use. No.4 (brushed) and 8K (mirror) are for architectural applications where appearance matters as much as function.
