The EU plans to formally begin to levy anti-dumping duties on Chinese aluminum sheets, strips and foils

On March 9, 2022, the European Commission consulted European stakeholders on the need for a further extension of the moratorium and collected information on EU market damage.

After analysis and evaluation, the European Commission believes that although there are still uncertainties in the market, the statutory conditions for suspending anti-dumping measures are no longer met, and on May 25, 2022, it announced that it intends to start anti-dumping measures after the 9-month extension expires. China’s decision to levy anti-dumping duties on related products, that is, is planned to resume anti-dumping measures after July 12, 2022.

According to the European Commission’s final ruling announcement, during the investigation period of this case (from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020), the EU imported 170,000 tons of products involved in the case from China, and the average unit price of imported products was 2,235 euros per ton. The amount involved is 380 million euros.

Final judgment The products involved in this case include coils or coiled strips, sheets or round plates with a thickness of 0.2 mm and above and 6 mm and below; aluminum plates with a thickness of over 6 mm; aluminum sheets with a thickness of 0.03 mm and above but less than 0.2 mm rolls, tapes, etc. But at the same time, the case also excludes related aluminum products used in the manufacture of cans, automobiles, and aircraft parts.
